Package Delivery Text Scams

A text says a package delivery could not be completed and asks you to tap a link to reschedule or pay a small fee.

How the scam works

The text claims to be from a shipping carrier and says your package could not be delivered.

It asks you to tap a link to reschedule delivery or pay a small redelivery fee.

The link leads to a fake page designed to collect your card number or personal information.

Common warning signs

  • You were not expecting a package from the sender named in the text.
  • The link goes to a web address that does not match the carrier's real website.
  • You are asked to pay a small redelivery fee with a card.
  • The message contains unusual spacing, spelling, or grammar.

What to do

  • Do not tap the link.
  • If you are expecting a package, check the delivery status directly on the carrier's official website or app.
  • If you are not expecting a package, delete the message.

What not to do

  • Do not tap links in unexpected delivery texts.
  • Do not enter your card number to pay a small redelivery fee from a text link.
  • Do not reply to the text, even to say “stop.”
